While we're young and free (without children :-), we are enjoying some fun weekend getaways to do as we please!
We took Mr. Matthew Charles Willis Oliverson the Third (not really the 3rd, it just felt like it needed to be there. We affectionately call him C-Dubbs :-) with us up to Dallas for yet another Air Show! He's headed up to Cougar town (not a land of 40 year old single women on the prowl; he's going to BYU :-) so we need to hang out with him as much as we can!
It was also game 3 of the first round of NBA playoffs on Friday night, and we thought it would be fun, since we are playing the Dallas Mavericks, to wear our Spurs gear and head to the nearest Buffalo Wild Wings and cheer on our boys.
We got some delicious appetizers and enjoyed the over-stimulation of 8,000 tv's and a rowdy Dallas crowd to watch the game. And we clearly enjoyed the big win. It was a great kick-off for the weekend!

And here's the shots from the Air Show on Saturday!
Zacho's favorite jet has always been the A-10 Thunderbolt, aka the 'Warthog', and when he found out it was going to be flying in this show that sealed the deal for us driving up there. He likes the massive gun on the nose, and the fact that it's a bomber as well as a fighter. Also, it's a one-man jet, so the pilot is also the gunner... Pretty sweet gig for him! I'd like to note that this is NOT something I would think was even remotely cool before we started going to see these things... but you can't help but get into it after you see all this stuff!

Here's the Warthog swooping in for it's demonstration. Zacho has read that typically, the Warthog pilots are outcasts. Sort of a quiet cowboy that sticks to himself. They're great at what they do and just come in to get the job done. I really liked the whole idea of that... and you could tell by the demonstration that the guy flying it was a 'crazy' and knew how to handle his aircraft. It was by far my favorite part of the show... I wish I had gotten a video of it!

This was my second favorite part of the show... this bomber was amazing. It came ominously flying in, and everyone was just quiet. It only made one flyover, right over the crowd and headed off into the distance. It's paper thin from the front, so you only really know it's there when it's right on top of you, and the underside looks almost like a UFO. There are only 2 pilots and it is completely stealth, undetectable to radar. So cool.

Where to next, Zacho?

One of those stealth bombers flew over Chloe's soccer field. It looked so cool. After it passed I could hear it's engines. Sneaky sucker.
I love the pictures you get at these...I think my favorite is the helicopter. What a fun weekend! (and you guys are smart to get in all the fun weekends you can before you have kids...not that you don't have fun weekends after, but you only have this pre-kid time once :-)!)
i gotta say...seeing the hog was awesome!!! i would have driven to ft. worth for just that. supa cool. the stealth b-2 was a nice bonus too...good times.
The last one looks like star wars!!!
My friend Sheree and her family were at the same show! (remember Ella's buddy when she was little Andrew?) I just saw it on her blog and thought it was funny :-)!
These look so fun that you guys go to. I love how the blue sky provides a beautiful backdrop for your "birds," (as the Air Force calls planes)
I'm glad you had a great trip- Dallas is always fun :)
